Trust: 0.8

sources: JVNDB: JVNDB-2014-004332

DESCRIPTION

The network-statistics interface in the kernel in Apple iOS before 8 and Apple TV before 7 does not properly initialize memory, which allows attackers to obtain sensitive memory-content and memory-layout information via a crafted application, a different vulnerability than CVE-2014-4371, CVE-2014-4419, and CVE-2014-4421. This vulnerability CVE-2014-4371 , CVE-2014-4419 ,and CVE-2014-4421 Is a different vulnerability. Supplementary information : CWE Vulnerability type by CWE-665: Improper Initialization ( Improper initialization ) Has been identified. http://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/665.htmlAn attacker could gain valuable memory content and memory layout information through a crafted application. The impact of this issue is currently unknown. We will update this BID when more information emerges. Apple iOS and TV are prone to multiple security vulnerabilities. These issues affect the following components: 802.1X, Accounts, Accessibility, Accounts Framework, Address Book, App Installation, Assets, Bluetooth, CoreGraphics, Foundation, Home & Lock Screen, iMessage, IOAcceleratorFamily, IOAcceleratorFamily, IOHIDFamily, IOHIDFamily, IOKit, Kernel, Libnotify, Mail, Profiles, Safari, Sandbox Profiles, syslog and WebKit components. Successfully exploiting these issues may allow attackers to crash the affected device, bypass security restrictions, obtain sensitive information, or execute arbitrary code. Other attacks are also possible. This BID is being retired. The vulnerability is caused by the program not properly initializing memory. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 APPLE-SA-2014-10-16-1 OS X Yosemite v10.10 OS X Yosemite v10.10 is now available and addresses the following: 802.1X Impact: An attacker can obtain WiFi credentials Description: An attacker could have impersonated a WiFi access point, offered to authenticate with LEAP, broken the MS-CHAPv1 hash, and used the derived credentials to authenticate to the intended access point even if that access point supported stronger authentication methods.
